Could anyone give me any information on “Soft Paws” for cats?

In order to move into this apartment complex I’m interested in, they told me that I need to either have my cat declawed or put “soft paws” on them. What exactly are “soft paws”? Will it hurt my cat and how much will it cost? I don’t want to declaw my cat so this seems to be my only option.
